9SilkScarf.com is a Bangkok-based lady accessory producer/supplier. We produce and supply exotic Oriental clothing accessories and accents to wear in special occasions or as gifts for ladies.
We design fabrics by ourselves. As well, we add to our collections some outstanding outsourced pieces. We periodically drive into Thailand rural villages in search of exceptional exotic pieces of scarves. However, we never add to our supply any single piece of industrial machine-made.
ZIVA does not cut any corners when it comes to aethetics and value. The fact behind this is that ZIVA is not owned or run completely by marketing or business people. It was founded and has been operated by a group of designers who pride themselves of creating unique designs. In fact, every member of our staff has either kind of design background.
BACKGROUND
ZIVA is founded in 1994 as a fashion studio by a Siamese architect/interior designer, Sunny Boone. The studio supplied of designed apparel to high-end retail stores in Bangkok. Four years later, we had our very first own outlet selling woman clothing accessories under our own brand.
We had been a local supplier for several years. However, our supply size grew surprisingly when we jumped into e-business in 2002 under the website 10AccentDecor.com selling woman accessories and home accents. 80% of our production were then exported. Boone quitted his routine job and went fulltime in this business taking all product design by himself. We finally decided to shut down all local outlets and went 100% online direct trading to prevent local copycats and the dispute with local big-name stores.
We have just celebrated our new shop-front web site, 9SilkScarf.com, extending product lines from Thai silk to Indian silk and Pashmina scarves. We are adding other body ornament products to our listing soon.
Over these years, we have won several awards and titles. In 1996, Outstanding Handicraft Award from The Society of Siamese Handicraft. In 1998, Gold Medal Lady Handicraft Apparel Accessory from Lady Apparel Guild. In 1999, Bangkok Governor Prize of SME Entrepreneur Awards. In 2000, Minister Silk Creative Product Awards from Thailand Northeastern Silk Product Contest. In 2001, Silk Craft Awards from Chamber of Thai Crafts. We stopped joining any contest after we went online on 2002.
While a lot has changed since 1994, one thing remained constant is our focus on creating UNIQUE products to make wearers PROMINENT.
Today we still are the only one who supply this type of scarves, scarf + necklace combos. We also have a plan to resume Home Accent online store supplying exotic pieces of Oriental arts and crafts soon.

THE SCARVES
All ZIVA silk scarves are made of hand-woven Thai silk. Their color patterns are designed by our in-house designers and produced by village weavers in northeastern Thailand with old-style technics.
Silk is made from natural-bred silkworms fed by mulberry leaves. Silk yarns are hand-spun. Unlike printed, hand-painted, or knitted scarves, ZIVA silk yarns are gradation-dyed using only vegetable or natural colorings to ensure purity and environmental safety. Silk is hand-woven with old-style technics using traditional wooden looms.
Totally made by hands, Thai silk is unique and independent from industrial look.
Being made by hands one by one, each piece has its deviation. In another sense, each piece in our collections is unique in its details. Deviation of color gradation, small knots, and unsteady distances between yarns are the raw signature of hand-woven Thai silk. The products are intentionally created for persons who appreciate the beauty of natural disorder.
Though most ZIVA scarves are produced in-house, we do not refuse exotic pieces from rural outsources. We occasionally drive into rural villages of northeastern Thailand to collect unique pieces made by locals.

THE NECKLACES
The necklace parts are designed by ZIVA designers and crafted by our in-house artisans. They take the glamour of white or black pearls, coral, or semi-precious stones like amethyst, turquoise, garnet, carnelian, quartz, rose quart, or turmaline. These necklace parts are incorporated into scarf fabrics with either harmony or discord in colors and texture to serve either Western or Oriental taste.

PASHMINA BLEND
Though most ZIVA scarves are made of Thai silk, occasionally available in our collections are pashmina blend. Pasmina blend scarves are Thai-made 70% pashmina 30% Thai silk. While maintaining their thermal properties, pashmina blends are more durable than pure pashmina or cashmere.
Different from ordinary pashmina blend scarves, ZIVA collects only scarves with exotic patterns. These in-lay weaving motifs are either in Oriental classic or tribal-ethnic style.
With Thai silk blended, as well as the abundance of local weavers, ZIVA pashmina blend scarves are much more affordable than pure pashmina from other sources.

VISCOSE BLEND
Viscose fabric is shimmering. Viscose blend scarves contain 50% of viscose fiber. Other 50% of different kinds of yarns helps blending the shimmering property of viscose to a desirable degree. This provides designers with flexibility to create scarves in either elegant-classic, exotic-ethnic, or exciting-flamboyant styles.
Viscose prices are relatively low. In conjunction with their rich design, viscose blend are the best value scarves.
PLAIN SCARVES
As the request of several regular buyers, scarves without necklaces are also provided. These collections are selected from outsources through fashion designers' eyes emphasizing in ethnic design. Most are rare ethnic-motif-inlay types. Several are the only one of their types and are one-piece available in our stock.
These scarves are of gauzy silk, pashmina blend, and viscose blend.
LOW PRICES
9SilkScarf.com is based at the origin of materials and craftsmen, Thailand. As a consequence, ZIVA prices are very low relative to their quality and design. Most of our prices are equal to or lower than one fourth of those sold in offline stores of our retail venders. Even if you are an importer, you still have your share. But if you are an end user, you get the highest profitability out of it.
A "plain" silk scarf, without necklace combined, being sold in large department stores in Bangkok costs around 28 USD a piece - close to that of a ZIVA scarf+necklace combo. ZIVA prices are as equal as those of "plain" hand-woven SILK scarves sold on most online stores - while ZIVA are scarf + necklace combos, and with "design".
